The fourth
International Platform on Integrating Arab e-Infrastructure in a Global
Environment was concluded recently, it was hosted by the Omani Research Council
(TRC)and the Arab States Research and Education Network and under the patronage
of his Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asad al Said, Assistant Secretary General for
Communications and Branding at TRC, and attendance of more than 250 participants
from forty countries, and participation of a number of Arab Ministers of
Education, the Ambassador of the European Union Commission, Assistant Secretary
General of the Arab League, representatives of international organizations and
educational institutions, and the national research and education networks in
Arab countries, Europe, America and Asia.
Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al
Hinai, Secretary-General of TRC, said that it will focus on cooperation between
(OMREN) Arabic Organization for research and education networks (ASREN), and aims
to develop mechanisms for technical cooperation between global networks and
linking them electronically, to facilitate the needs of researchers and scholars from various
countries, especially since we are in the «knowledge age» and the
sophistication of countries is in the knowledge economy in quality and spread
of information networks in these countries, especially if we look at the
research and education networks and their link to other networks in the region
and the world, we look
forward to establishing an extensive and secure infrastructure connected to
research and educational resources around the world and able to meet present
and future needs, and is committed to meet the international standards and has
great readiness, based on community and research cooperation and provide the
necessary support to educational and research institutions in the Sultanate of
Oman and the Arab world.

Abu-Ghazaleh, President of the Arab States Research and Education Network and President of the Arab Organization for Quality
Assurance in Education, stressed the importance of the International Platform
on Integrating Arab e-Infrastructure for the Arab e-infrastructures in the
framework of the global infrastructure as a platform for scientific and
technical researchers, academics and decision makers to work on the
sustainability of electronic infrastructure and linking it with its
counterparts around the world and the launch of the logo of Oman Research and
Education Network that provides software and other information through projects
supported by the European Union, including the third Euro-Mediterranean interconnection project and
the compatibility between the Informatics and e-infrastructure.
Exchanging
experiences and benefiting from the wide experience in the development of
electronic infrastructure took place during the platform, it coincided with the
launch of the operational exchange point of the ASREN PoP in London for
research traffic, to link all national networks for research and education in
the Arab region directly with each other for the purposes of research and
education and to research and education resources on learning networks of the
exchange point.
