The meeting of
university chancellors and heads of higher education institutions of the GCC
was opened, hosted by Kuwait University on the current session from the 13-15 of
October 2014, in the presence of a number of university chancellors, heads of
higher education institutions and representatives of the GCC universities.
A preparatory
meeting was held on Monday the 13th of October headed by Dr. Hasan
Al Sanad, Vice President for Research
of Kuwait University and rapporteur of the Scientific Committee, during which the
main items and axis were discussed that will be addressed during the meeting.
Dr. Mohamed bin Hassan
Al-Qubaisi, Director of the Educational Department, stressed in his speech on
behalf of the General Secretariat of the GCC the limitless backing by the GCC leaders to higher
education, giving an impetus to achieve the highest possible education quality
at the GCC universities to ensure the educational outcomes that compete
internationally and is in tune with what the leaders desire which is comprehensive
development plans for the region and in line with the growing knowledge revolution.
Al Qubaisi said that
the GCC universities offer a unique learning service that enables students to
acquire the different cognitive and technical skills needed of the current and
anticipated jobs required by the GCC labor market sectors, as well as refining a
conscious personality that can perceive threats and the most respectful of high
moral values, customs and traditions.
He added that the
agenda is headed by the
decisions of the Supreme Council which offers political support for a serious
breakthrough in the field of educational development between higher education
institutions in the council’s member States, the agenda also includes a number of other
general topics that will contribute to strengthening and activation of the process
and achieve the desired objectives.
