The "Ministry
of Higher Education and Scientific Research" and " Foreign Affairs Ministry" signed on
Wednesday (15/1/2014) a joint cooperation agreement for strengthening the
relationship between the two sides and embassies abroad in all areas concerned.
The agreement was
signed by Dr. "Saeed Hamad Al-Hassani", Undersecretary, on behalf of "Higher
Education and "Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed", Undersecretary,
on behalf of "Foreign Affairs", at the general secretariat office of “Foreign Affairs” in the presence
of a number of journalists and media professionals.
Under the memorandum
“Foreign Affairs” provides "Higher Education" with data of students
studying at the mission headquarters to communicate with them in case of an
emergency, and assists in the renewal of their, and their travelling companions, expired passports or
give them an emergency passport in cases that require it.
For its part,
"Higher Education" addresses “Foreign Affairs” to facilitate visas
for members of the administrative bodies, teaching staff and their families that
are needed to work in institutions of higher education and that are requested
by the Cultural Attaché, in addition to providing "Higher Education" with
all the circulars on the organization of the work of embassies and Cultural Attachés.
The two ministries will
coordinate between them with regard to visits of various official and academic
delegations, in linking the mail system in particular with regard to inquiring
about qualifications issued by higher education institutions in different
countries, the scholars study and provide the necessary services in the absence
of a Cultural Attaché for "Higher Education", and to provide means of
direct communication with officials of the Embassy via diplomatic channels.
The memorandum
included in addition to the above several services for students such as the
electronic link for payment of fees for certain electronic services, and the
circulation of foreign embassies abroad that the student must take the approval
of the “Ministry of Higher Education And Scientific Research” before studying
in any educational institution abroad.
It also included the
contribution of "Higher Education" at the invitation of the "Foreign
Affairs" by organizing concerts and academic, cultural, educational and artistic
events, and participating in official events, festivals and exhibitions.
