The Organizing
Committee of "Power-Gen Middle East Conference and Exhibition” in its 13th
annual session, held a meeting to review the research proposals that have been
submitted by experts and researchers from all over the world. The Conference
will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre "ADNEC",
during the period from 4th to 6th of October.
The Conference and
Exhibition, held under the slogan "Sharing Technology Innovation", is
to provide a leading regional platform for the traditional ways of power
generation, renewable industries, alternative energy, and discussion of various
issues and files of economic development for the future of the energy sector.
The Conference hosts experts and specialists from 80 countries around the
world, including officials, owners of factories, operators, and engineers to
discuss ways to meet the growing demand in the GCC countries, which is
estimated between 6 and 10 per cent, equivalent to eight billion watts,
especially that more than 300 billion Dollars are expected to be invested in 20
energy-related projects by 2020.
The Committee,
comprised of 41 members from the UAE, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Qatar,
Switzerland, Jordan, Greece, and Germany, has reviewed 130 research papers
received on the 30th of January. Mr. Nigel Blackaby, Director of the
Conference, said that there is a tremendous response this year that combines
traditional and alternative techniques, which will contribute to the diversity
of speakers at the Conference. The submitted research proposals include: “operation,
maintenance and fossil-related technology, renewable energy technology, the
technical market trends, issues of strategic planning projects, and structural
organization of strategic markets".
The Organizing
Committee has met to put the finishing touches on the agenda of the Conference,
and the addressed topics included the list of oil prices and low prices, which
in turn provide opportunities for power generation, and that the only effect
will be the lower rate of investment in the short term because the oil is still
a major source of income for the regional economies.
The names of speakers
will be announced in the Power-Gen Middle East Conference in the coming weeks
on the website www.power-gen-middleeast.com.
