A seminar at “NYU Abu Dhabi
Institute” in “Abu Dhabi” was held on Thursday ( 6/2/2014) under the title :
“Research Funding Programs at National Research Foundation”, in response to the
invitation presented by the University to the “National Research Foundation” at
the “Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research”, as part of the
mutual cooperation in the fields of scientific research and its development to
serve the State, and to hold several partnerships between the Foundation and
other governmental institutions so as to adopt mutual work plans between them,
and to achieve the goals of scientific research and promote it.
Dr. “Ahmed Alosi”, Research Program Manager at the Foundation, delivered
a presentation during the seminar in which he showcased information about the
Foundation’s programs. He also met with Mr. “David McGlennon”, Vice Provost of
University Partnerships & MD, “Steven Goode”, Associate Director, Research
Administration, and “Pance Naumov, Associate Professor of Chemistry, in
addition to some faculty members of the University. He discussed with them the
issues and interests of scientific research in an attempt to reach suggestions
to serve and improve the outcomes of scientific research in line with the
requirements and needs of the State and its various sectors.
The “National Research Foundation” was established in (2008) as part of
the “Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research” as an initiative
from the Ministry to help develop the research activates in local and private
universities, colleges, institutes and companies, which are conducted by
individuals or groups of researchers in the UAE, to establish some kind of
pioneering research in the State, and to provide funding support for
researchers on a competitive basis. Such research projects are funded upon the
review and approval of the international counterparts to make sure they achieve
social and economic benefits, and contribute to the development of the State.
