Honored the National Research Foundation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research yesterday 16 Emarati researchers winners of the " Emarati youth creators", and Emarati youth researchers from the research competition award launched in October 2011, it includes 6 programs of funding research to help in developing research capacity and innovation in the country, in addition to reward research excellence, innovation and the contribution to build national system. Four programs were allocated to UAE locals. Said Dr. Hossam Director-National Research Foundation "The winning researches were submitted by undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of areas, according to a specific timetable. We received a large number of participant's applications which has been reviewed and evaluated according to the competition criteria that is consistent with international standards in scientific research.
NRF Role
He added that the role was to provide financial support to the research winners, as the supporting to the researches reached the amount of about 500 thousand dirhams, in addition to encouraging young Emarati people to conduct practical researches in various stages of study (bachelor's , master's and doctoral degrees), and this comes according to the instructions of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who always keen to encourage and support Emarati students to provide outstanding scientific research in various fields.
Dr Hossam explained that all the 6 competition programs were in the areas of research grant to fund UAE locals working as members of the faculty in the Federal and private accredited universities in the country. The other research funding grant for the best of the local students enrolled in postgraduate program inside or outside the country in an accredited university, in addition to Emarati youth creativity award, and youth Emarati researches award, collaborative research grants between universities and industry sector, in addition to the research grants for the submission of applications for the registration of a patent. On the other hand, Dr. Abdullah Al Shamsi, Director of the British University in Dubai confirmed the importance of scientific research and cooperation between the National Research Foundation and the universities in UAE by providing support to researchers and conduct distinguished scientific researches serve the UAE society.
Then Dr. Hossam distributed the certificates to the winners, the following names are the winners of youth Emarati creators award and youth Emarati researchers: Dr. Hassan Al Muhairi, Omran Al Hammadi, Faisal hobbyist, banana Achammala and Issa based from Khalifa University, Safe Shamsi, Share Alamaimi of the British University in Dubai, Mary gel, Mary Hashemi, Issa Marzouki of Zayed University. The names Faqih from the University of Hamdan Bin Mohammed electronic college, Amani al-Hashemi of the University of Sussex, Rania Sha'ban Ibrahim from the University of Auckland, Hamad Al Marzouqi from the University of Anasimaj, Abdullah Al Zaabi from the University of Manchester and Dr. Habiba yolk from the University of Western Australia.
Pride
A number of researchers who interviewed by al bayan expressed their pride by winning the prize, said Rania Sha'ban Ibrahim she presented a paper titled "evaluation of pharmaceutical inspection in pharmaceutical plants and how to improve the inspection process overall, particularly in UAE through the Global standards in this field.
For her part, Dr. Habiba Al Saffar assistant professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Khalifa, The discussion was Ph.D. thesis titled "building a BIOLOGICAL database to study the genomes that cause diabetes in indigenous peoples", a sample were taken from UAE locals and the Dr. concluded that there are 5 genomes that cause Diabetes among UAE locals, and there is no such genomes in other peoples, pointing out that the genetic cause of 10% of diabetes.
Dr. Hassan Al Muhairi, said he presented a paper entitled, "Computer Visual way" through an electronic programming enables robots to identify objects located around accurately, where the research focused on the balance between image quality and speed up the process of vision, and dividing the image to parts so that the concentration on details shall be accurate.
