Under the directives of his Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the NAPO Center in the Ministry of Higher Education And Scientific Research is organizing workshops, in cooperation with the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia), aimed at citizen parents of grade 12 students, and sons of female citizens both males and females in all the Emirates of the State (public and private schools), during the period of the 19th – 24th of March 2015.
Ms. Youmna Bodowah, Director of NAPO Center pointed out that the aim of this type of educational meetings is to activate dialogue between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the parents of 12th grade students, to raise the level of awareness of the family for its active role in the academic and vocational guidance of children. Where an explanation is given on the colleges and specialties available, admission requirements, and other questions and inquiries to enable the students after receiving the answers of selecting the appropriate specialty for their school grades and academic capabilities.
The workshops will be held in Abu Dhabi Women's College, and Dubai Men’s College, and the Sharjah Women's College on March 19, 2015, and on March 22nd, 2015 there will be workshops in Sharjah Men’s College, Al Ain Men’s College, and Al Fujairah Women’s College, in addition to holding a workshop at the Ras al Khaimah Men’s College on March 24th, 2015. Ms. Youmna stressed that the NAPO Center annually organizes an academic guidance program for high school students which includes visits to all schools and technical institutes in the State, and the Ministry coordinates early in the year with the Ministry of Education and school boards and school districts in the State, where they are briefed on the program’s plan for the school year which contains the timetable for the visits and venues.
And the implementation of the program is in participation of representatives from higher education institutions like the UAE University, Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, Institutes and Colleges of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Emirates College for Advanced Education, and Khalifa University, to respond to queries from students received during the visit.
