In embodiment of the directives of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to promote cooperation in the field of research and innovation programs with international universities for the exchange of experiences, and to benefit from the best practices in the development of collaborative research projects in the priority areas that are driving the innovation sectors, including; (education, health, clean energy, water, technology, mobility, space and the environment), the Ministry, in coordination with the British Council in the UAE and the Abu Dhabi Education Council organized a forum to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the British and Emirati universities, during the period from (23rd -24th ) of March 2015 in London, at the British Royal Society of Chemistry, and with the participation of representatives of UAE University, Khalifa University, University of Sharjah, American University of Sharjah, Abu Dhabi University, Masdar Institute, Petroleum Institute, British University in Dubai, University of Wollongong, Zayed University and Higher Colleges of Technology.
Dr. Ahmed Alosi, Research Program Manager at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on the first day of the Forum, made a presentation on the role of the Ministry in building an exceptional educational system and in encouraging competitive scientific research, to actively contribute to building a knowledge-based economy in the UAE. Alosi offered greetings from the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in beginning, to all participants and wished them success in exploring opportunities for cooperation, Alosi also addressed, during his presentation, the development and growth in the number of universities, institutes and academic programs accredited by the State, in addition to scholarships which are provided by the Ministry to Emirati students in the best universities and the research grants and awards programs to build and develop the capabilities of scientific research in the State, according to the UAE vision 2021.
