Page Content

The “Government Communication Department” in the “Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research”, will start on Monday and Tuesday (30-31) of December the implementation of the “My Number, My Identity”, in collaboration with the “Telecommunications Regulatory Authority” to provide better standards and ensure the privacy of mobile users, the campaign will be implemented in the Customer Service Center in the Ministry by hosting representatives from communication companies in the State and through a dedicated team to ensure that the instructions of the Authority are fully implemented.

The Ministry with the continuous guidance of his Excellency the Minister Sheikh “Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan”, aims by this campaign to maintain the privacy of its employees and clients and the importance of the mobile subscribers’ role to protect their SIM cards, which are national resources that should be used responsibly. These should not be given out to other users to avoid any misuse that may occur, as the registered owner of the number will be legally and financially accountable. If the user is not the owner of the number to misuse the line leading to the violation of some of the laws of the UAE, and this may include unethical behaviors such as slander and insults, and in the case of paid invoices numbers were being used by many phone calls with a high value of the amount owed and the owner may not be able to pay and becomes liable financially by licensees.

“My Number, My Identity” campaign was launched in June 2012 by the “Telecommunications Regulatory Authority” (TRA) in cooperation with by the two licensees (Etisalat and du) to raise awareness about the new procedures governing registration of users to get a SIM number, and the highlighting to the user the importance of maintaining SIM number, the Ministry aims to make this campaign work on organization and invites its clients to get the necessary documents to update data that include supporting documents such as a passport and national identity card.

The “My Number, My Identity” campaign is clear evidence of the interest of the Ministry in maintaining the interest of its employees and customers, and in improving the level of services provided to them, by updating their personal information in the database of the telecom service providers in the State, and ensure that the mobile phone they are using is registered in their names.
