The Ministry of Education- Higher Education Affairs participated in the events of "Earth Hour" campaign, which occurs on Saturday (19th) of March, in the framework of social responsibility, which The Ministry is keen to undertake as a government authority in the community, through the implementation of initiatives and awareness programs to various segments of society, in particular with regard to the environment and its conservation, in order to save energy and preserve planet Earth, which contributes to the achievement of the mission and vision of the State in achieving sustainable development. The UAE prepares each year for this campaign by turning off unnecessary lights throughout the country, and encourages people to participate in this campaign, which helps reduce energy consumption and emissions mitigation of gases that are harmful to the environment. The Ministry has worked to prepare for this campaign, by publishing information materials on the "Earth Hour", such as posters and prints, plus the campaign slogan, on the Ministry's website and social networking pages and accounts, and send emails to the staff of the Ministry and Cultural Attachés abroad as a reminder of the campaign, and how to achieve the desired result. Participation in this campaign included turning off the lights between the hours of (8.30-9.30) p.m., in conjunction with the global campaign in which over (140) countries participate, which started in (2007) in (Australia), to encourage the inhabitants of the Earth to save energy consumption and reduce the resulting harmful gases.
