The
Director of the Commission for Academic
Accreditation (CAA) at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific
Research, Dr. BadrAboul-Ela, stressed that the TOEFL is crucial for college
graduates. Students must have a full knowledge of English before graduation,
especially since the labor market requires both Arabic and English. He also
indicated that media and other majors need to be proficient in English, given
the diversity of the media in the UAE. Dr. Aboul-Ela emphasized that students
need English in their day-to-day lives and when immersed in the labor market.
The
CAA Director’s said in commenting on the claims of local newspapers that
reported Emirati students are required to obtain a certificate of TOEFL in
order to graduate.
Aboul-Ela
continued, the Ministry is keen to develop the scientific outputs of the
students, in terms of development in the educational systems in universities and
colleges to achieve the best performance by the students.
