The Ministry of Education has approved the schedule of central examinations for the school year 2017/2018. The program includes subjects in both Groups ’A’ and ‘B’, aimed at conducting unified central examinations for grades 1-12. The examination schedule regulation program also includes general directives to all those concerned in the educational field on the procedures related to the application of examinations.
Regulation of the examination schedule comes after the Ministry approved a new assessment and examination policy which classified subjects into two groups ’A’ and ‘B’. Students will undergo examinations on group B subjects through practical work in laboratories, learning resources and implementation of practical projects. Subjects under group A will be where students undergo the usual examinations.
The new assessment and examination policy approved by the Ministry represents the latest development in Emirati Schools for the current school year by providing students with greater opportunities for experimentation and practical work, which will increase their skills and knowledge, particularly in scientific subjects. The assessment and examination policy is also in line with the advanced curriculums applied by the Ministry which include a great deal of all types of experiments and practical work.
The scientific assessments of subjects under group ‘B’ within the assessment and examination policy aim at instilling the concept of practical work in students and empowering them with the same through different methods, including experiments and knowledge sharing availed of in implementing projects, as well as all other methods that enhance the student’s ability to benefit from the knowledge gained through learning experience.
