National Strategy for Higher Education 2030

The Ministry of Education (MOE) lunches the National Strategy for Higher Education 2030 in the context of the annual meetings of the Government of the UAE. His Excellency Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, affirmed that education is a priority for the leadership. He referred to the stages education has gone through over the past years, announcing that the State is working on the model desired to be the world’s top educational model depending on the Higher Education Strategy 2030.

 

He added that the strategy is based on developing an innovative educational system, sharpening student skills as the cornerstone of the educational process, engaging the private sector in the process of development, subject to continuous updates, focusing on research and studies and developing creative academic programs that enhance the country's competitiveness globally.

 

His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education, said that the educational sector is a center of interest for the UAE’s leaderships, who are keen on providing our children with the scientific and academic skills and knowledge and on placing them at the top of their priorities. He said that such attitude comes from the leaderships’ absolute belief in that education is the foundation for building generations that can achieve the UAE’s vision which aims at topping the world rankings and ensure the continuation of the passage to excellence and leadership in all areas.

 

Role model

His Excellency said that the UAE is keen on providing a unique global model for improving education and developing the educational methods and tools through following the international leading experiences and forming partnerships and cooperation with the leading experimenters. He said that this meant such a global model is meant to build generations that are able to break the traditional frameworks, invent solutions and come up with ideas that serve the community.

 

The National Strategy for Higher Education 2030 emphasizes the need to provide students with the technical and practical skills to be productive elements that can push the wheel of economy in the public and private sectors. Furthermore, the national strategy focuses on graduating specialized and professional generations in the vital sectors to become the cornerstone of the knowledge-based economy and to take part in research, entrepreneurship and labor market.

 

The UAE is looking forward to developing a high quality educational vocational as well as academic system. Such system is intended to produce effective researching outputs that contribute to driving the wheel of the knowledge-based economy. The educational system intended is built upon 4 basic pillars.

 

Thirty-three major initiatives

The strategy defined 33 major initiatives to stimulate action and work out the strategy, including the National Quality Framework Initiative, which aims at developing flexible national standards that are capable of understanding the local requirements and alternative models and formulating an effective quality control system. The said initiatives also guarantee transparency of the outputs classification by developing a mechanism for classifying all institutions in accordance with basic quality standards, transparently publishing quality reports and establishing a private sector council to regulate labor market participation, identify the employment requirements, review and deliver programs, design outstanding professional expertise and support research.
