64 male and female students from the Ambassadors of
the masterpieces of the arts Program, which is part of “Our Ambassadors
Initiative”, recently launched by the Ministry of Education, concluded their
rich journey after being acquainted with the best international expertise in
the fields of art, creativity and theater.
The students' trip, as ambassadors of arts’
masterpieces, included visits to Prince Charles School of Traditional Arts,
where they became acquainted with the principles of design embodied in the
heritage of Islamic Art, and were able to create links between the traditional
arts of the United Arab Emirates and Islamic and global art in its wider
context.
Also, a team of student experts took part in a
series of design activities focusing on classical styles of geometric design
and adding the style of Nabataean poetry rooted in Islamic designs, and the
students explored how these principles can be translated into many different
crafts; such as textiles, wood, glass and ceramics.
Our students also learned about the Bright School
curriculum, which is based on its unique approach to education. During the
training course at this school, the students became acquainted with courses of
several performing arts that included introduction to acting, script writing,
physical theater, motor skills and voice. All these courses helped develop the
students' practical skills. Our students also participated in a series of
visual arts courses that dealt mainly with the printing industry, photography,
painting and portfolio management. Our students are planning to express their
gains from the Masterpieces Program by holding a musical show dedicated to
celebrating the year of Zayed in October 2018.
Engineer
Khalfan Al-Marashdeh, Director of Skills
Development Department at the Ministry of Education said: "the
Masterpieces Program will help us build a generation that values the splendor
of the arts and appreciates all that it offers to our communities. Our success in planting this culture means that we
will be able to transform UAE into a global cultural and artistic destination.
Through the arts, our students can express themselves in different creative
ways and build a bridge that connects them with the world. We are very excited to see the fruits of this
initiative and how our students will apply everything they have learned in this
program. We are really proud of the UAE talents and its rich heritage”.
