The Organizing Committee of the Global Skills Competition Abu Dhabi 2017 announced today that 80,000 students from various schools across the country will visit the venue of the Competition held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the armed forces.
The Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training organized these visits in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education and Knowledge in order to provide students with an opportunity to learn more about the nature of the Global Skills Competition held for the first time in the region. The program of visits included a detailed explanation of the nature of the Competition and how to participate, as well as the importance of skills and their role in providing new jobs in various fields.
Ali Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Head of UAE Skills at the Abu Dhabi Education and Training Center said: "This competition is an exceptional opportunity for the new generation of students to learn about the innovative and sophisticated ways in which competitors deal with traditional skills, which are characterized by the promptitude and the employment of modern tools in smarter ways to achieve better results. He added "We have decided to invite our students to be part of this event in order to encourage them to perceive the values of quality, speed, efficiency and innovation, in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership towards preparing for the future and influencing it"
He added: "We stress the importance of the role played by the Ministry of Education and the Department of Education and Knowledge represented by the educational zone in each emirate as well as the school administrations, which have made extra efforts for many days to successfully organize these visits. We are confident that the positive results of all accompanying activities in conjunction with the Global Skills Competition will be a key factor in helping many students make more informed decisions about their future disciplines".
Today, The Ministerial Meeting of Ministers of Education also takes place on the sidelines of the Global Skills Competition. Mubarak Al Shamsi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Vocational and Vocational Education and Training Center, stressed that the aim of the conference is to empower young people as the element that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, relies on as the true wealth and leaders of the future.
Meanwhile, the participants continued to compete in the Abu Dhabi 2017 Global Skills Competition, which will be organized by the Abu Dhabi Technical and Vocational Education and Training Center. It will continue until next Thursday at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
5 Minister, the Minister of Health, His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Human Resources and Repatriation, His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health, His Excellency Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, His Excellency Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and His Excellency Dr. Majid Bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education, and in The Kingdom of Bahrain, in the presence of Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Education Center, received a tour of the competition's pavilions and teams. The Ministers were keen to see the competitions of 34 national citizens representing the UAE in these exciting competitions. In addition to 1266 global skills representing 59 countries, asserting their full confidence in the promising youth of the UAE.
The Ministers stressed that this global competition comes within the framework of the leadership for creating the new national generations, expressing their confidence in the outstanding efforts of senior management in Abu Dhabi Tech.
For his part, Mubarak Al Shamsi said: "The turnout of ministers to inspect the competition is one of the strong indicators that reflects the care and interest of the leadership in the young people as the real wealth of the state."
During the tour, Al Shamsi explained to the ministers about the skills of the 51 young men, of which the UAE team takes part in 31, and this is the largest number among the participating countries of the world. This confirms the increasing awareness of the UAE citizens of the importance of technical and vocational education in the renaissance of peoples and progress in the present and future.
Khalifa University for Science, Technology and Research is also participating in the Global Skills Abu Dhabi 2017, which was launched yesterday under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center with international audience of officials, contestants and guests.
Dr. Hadi Atreq, associate professor at the University of Khalifa, said: "In its participation in the competition, the university has presented two innovations: the first is electronic security, which is the 'security of pages', which contains all the security standards in the design to avoid control of 'hackers'. While the second innovation is the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), where students build the plane, and then some objectives are carried out such as how to bring it down on a moving body, or make it walk between some fixed objects without a static impact. The plane is controlled by the computer without any human interference."
He added that the university is participating in the Global Skills in the "Emirates Competition for Technology and Information", which includes seven categories, namely programming, electronic security, mobile applications, game development, unmanned aircraft, electronics and renewable energy.
Dr. Atreq explained that the innovations presented now, in addition to the innovations that the university has participated in before in a number of conferences and competitions inside and outside the country, are the culmination of years of hard work and continuous study and research, and an evidence of the creativity of Khalifa University students.
