The Executive Committee of the Mohamed Bin Zayed (MBZ)
Award for the Best Teacher in its meeting, presided by His Excellency Dr. Ahmad
Belhoul Al-Falasi, Minister of Education, General Supervisor of the Award, has
approved the results of the first phase of the fourth edition of the Award. The
Committee had also reviewed the executive report on the edition, assessment
results, nominees’ profiles, report on teachers’ visit to the Republic of
Finland, practices learned, and teachers’ performance.
The second phase of the fourth
edition, the follow-up mechanism for the candidates, and the methodology for
managing the pioneering initiative had also been discussed, in preparation for
announcing the results during October-November 2022 for each of the
participating countries.
The Committee praised the
distinguished participations of teachers that reflected their professionalism
in conveying their noble message. It also valued the support of ministers of
education in the participating countries, members of the committees concerned
with the objectives of the award, the efforts of the Award’s teamwork to make
the first phase succeed professionally, and the evaluation and arbitration teams, whose efforts had led to
having the best participations qualified to the fourth edition.
His Excellency Dr. Ahmad
Belhoul Al-Falasi said, “The UAE, under the directives of
the wise leadership, empowers teachers with technology and digital skills and
keeps pace with modernity and developments of the times, to lead the future of
sustainable education to enhance the country’s leadership and global
competitiveness. This is based on the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin
Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may Allah preserve him, that (teachers
are essential partners in building the nation's present and future).”
H.E. Al-Falasi stressed that the award was exceptional and
unique in its thoughts and objectives and distinguished in its approach and
message. He added that the achievements made by the award was a major turning point in the education process and that
it provided teachers with capabilities that advanced their performance and
honored the distinguished among them, as they were the focus of the educational
process with their creativity. He added that the creativity of teachers
constituted an incentive and a motivation for students, preparing them to be
future leaders, motivating them to excel in their academic career, and
encouraging them to be creative and innovate in various areas, as they would be
the driving force for progress in many scientific fields. He said that this harmonized
with the harmonized with the objectives of the national agenda of the UAE and
the vision of the wise leadership to make the future and prepare for the next
50 years.
Importance
and Leadership
H.E. Eng. Abdul Rahman Mohamed Al-Hammadi, Vice Chairman of the Higher Committee, stressed that the
MBZ Award for Best Teacher derived its importance and leadership from the
support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He added that this
would promote the elements of excellence in education systems and boost the
educational momentum, which would eventually reflect on the students. He
pointed out that the Award was based on original, purposeful, and global
educational standards, especially that His Highness’s interest in education was
not limited to developing visions and ideas only, but extended to include follow-up,
field visits, qualitative initiatives, receiving students, honoring
distinguished people, and providing an incubating environment for creative
students and teachers.
H.E. Al-Hammadi valued the role of the Award and the
careful, meticulous objectives it achieved. He added
that the Award built a future educational vision and devoted efforts to advance
education in the region by giving teachers proper position and appreciation and
highlighting their role, educational contributions, national mission in
qualifying distinguished, innovative generations with awareness, knowledge,
skills, and capabilities, to consolidate state leadership and keep pace with
the best global indicators.
Spirit of creativity
His
Excellency Dr. Mohammad Al-Mualla, Head of the Technical Committee, said that
the Award had been launched in 2017, under the patronage and support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He added
that since then, the Award had enhanced the values of cognitive excellence,
elevated education, instilled the spirit of creativity in teachers, and honored
the distinguished teachers, as part of the leading, educational work that
embodied excellence as a methodology and a method of work. He pointed out that
the Award had also enriched the educational momentum and added a big value to
the teachers participating from various countries, to ensure educational
sustainability and foreseeing the future.
H.E.
added that the award adopted new concepts that were based on technology for
distinguished, creative teachers, who had the skills, potentials, creativity,
and innovation and dedicated their capabilities to serve education. He pointed
out that the aim of the Award was to highlight the role of the creative
educational cadres, elevate their status, and achieve the educational
objectives.
Excellence
initiatives
For her
part, Her Excellency Sheikha Kholoud Al-Qasimi, Vice Chairman of the Technical Committee, said that the
UAE was leading in triggering the initiatives that sought to achieve
development, excellence, and creativity in all areas. She added that this came
under the directives of an outstanding leadership that believed in spreading
excellence and innovation as a culture and a daily practice, in order to
foresee the future and make change.
H.E. added that the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the
Award had boosted its Arab and regional status, provided the required support
to achieve its educational philosophy and objectives of developing the
educational system, enhanced the values and professional practices in the
educational field, and boosted the status of teachers and enabled them to
achieve leadership and desired educational competitiveness for the UAE and all the
countries of the region.
Learning
environments
His
Excellency Mohammed Al-Nuaimi, Member of the Higher Committee, said that His
Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's keenness to devote attention to
the educational system and its development and to keep pace with developments
that promote creative learning environments reflected His Highness's aspirations
to confirm the quality of the system and empower teachers, who constituted a
fundamental pillar in the educational process. He added that the aim was to
build cognitive generations that foresaw the future with the passion, skills,
and innovation, in order to reflect the image of continuity and leadership of
the country in all areas by offering high-quality education that achieved
competitiveness. He pointed out that such education was regarded as preponderant in light of the rapid developments that the
world was witnessing in various fields.
H.E. explained
that teachers stimulated the values of innovation, creativity, and thinking
skills in students. He added that this would lead to generations that were capable of drawing inspiration from visions that supported
sustainable development in various fields, based on the strategy of the UAE and
its wise leadership to build a knowledge-based economy and achieve sustainable
development for future generations.
Inspiring model
In the
same context, Dr. Hamad Al-Darmaki, Secretary General of the Award, stressed
that the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was the
main factor in achieving the goals of the Award, which had become an inspiring
and influential model at all levels; locally, regionally, and internationally. He
added that this was due to its standards, values, messages, and objectives to
revive the spirit of creativity at the hearts of teachers and honor them. He
said that this would contributes to the prosperity of our educational systems, help
keep pace with global trends, and empower future generations scientifically and
cognitively. He pointed out that the Award had developed in its fourth edition with
the joining of seven new countries, namely Iraq, Tunisia, Syria, Morocco,
Switzerland, Austria, and Finland.
He said,
“The Participants will be evaluated
according to the five main criteria of the award at a rate of 20%, in addition
to four other criteria, namely projects and initiatives 20%, innovation 20%,
entrepreneurial initiative 30%, and the audience voting 10%. All participants will
go through three stages for assessment against the Award’s five criteria, namely
achievement excellence, sustainable development and learning, creativity and
innovation, community and professional leadership and positivity, and loyalty
and national belonging.”
