The University of
Bahrain in cooperation and coordination with the National Oil and Gas Authority
and the Electricity And Water Authority, under the patronage of Dr.
Abdulhussain Mirza, Energy Minister, is organizing the Renewable Energy Sustainable
Development Seminar and Experts Meeting, from 15th -18th
of February 2015, at the Crowne Plaza, Bahrain, sponsored by the Bahrain
Petroleum Company and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC). This
symposium is held in the National Oil and Gas Authority’s plan to promote
renewable energy program within the Government’s efforts to diversify the
sources of energy for sustainability.
A number of issues
related to sustainable development in its facets; environmental, economic,
social and political will be discussed, and ways of activating the role of
renewable energy in achieving the sustainable development objectives. As the
seminar and meeting revolve around the role of renewable energy in meeting the
challenges associated with climate change, energy and water security.
Presentations will
be made during the sessions of the Seminar, a group of academics and
professionals in the field of renewable energy with global expertise in this
vital area, including Professor Ali
Sayigh, Chairman of WREC & D G of WREN, UK, Professor Marco Sala, University of Florence in
Italy, Professor Laurence Kazmerski, University
of Colorado, Professor Waheeb Al-Naser, Vice President for Academic Programs
and Graduate Studies, University of Bahrain, Dr. Shaker Haji, Head of the Chemical
Engineering Department at the University of Bahrain, Professor Nader Al Bastaki, Chemical
Engineering Department, Professor
Issa Batarseh, of Petra Solar Projects in the US, Engineer Adnan Naji of the
Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), Engineer Marty Marty Yousefiani - Casbian
Renewable Energy.
And the Seminar
attracts important professionals, researchers, academics, engineers and
technicians in the field of energy, as well as investors and entrepreneurs and
commercial banks.
Also participating
in the Seminar is the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and
Culture-ISESCO, and will be represented at this meeting with an expert from its
regional office in Sharjah.
