Despite the availability
of employment opportunities in the aviation sector in the UAE it is suffering
from weak demand by Emirati nationals, according to news reports, the aviation
sector provides (250,000) jobs in various fields, while estimates that the
percentage of naturalization in some areas do not exceed (5%).
The Ministry of Higher
Education and Scientific Research explored the views of the followers of its
Facebook page to discuss the reasons for the reluctance of young people to work
in this vital sector, the major reasons were addressed by the participants in the survey.
Hussein Abdulrahman said
that the reasons for the reluctance of young people to work in the aviation
industry is due to the lack of experience and knowledge in this area, in
addition to the low salaries of employees, and attracting foreigners to work
with encouraging incentives, adding that control of foreign companies in the
sector limit opportunities to attract young Emiratis.
And Dr. Mohammad Yahia
said that the health considerations is the leading causes of aversion, where
working conditions in the sector cause health damage and side effects.
While Mirna Al Nuaimi
attributed the reasons to not identifying clear criteria and qualifications,
saying that officials in the aviation sector should support qualified citizens
and enhance their self-confidence in conjunction with job placement.
Fadil Lootah supported the
opinions of the majority of the survey participants that low salaries and fear
of flying limit demand for labor in the aviation sector.
