member universities in the Association to participate in the “1st Turkish-Arab
Congress on Higher Education”, which will be held under the patronage of the
President of Turkey, “Abdullah Gül”, during the period (26th -28th) of April
(2014) in “Istanbul”, “Turkey”.
The congress focuses on the main
axes in the higher education, such as internationalization, quality control and
accreditation, the governance and Turkish-Arab cooperation, the harmony between
the university disciplines and the market requirements, addressing the
challenges that face the higher education in the region, the technological
innovation, students and faculty exchange, linking the scientific research with
the doctorate degree, and qualifying the students for the recruitment purposes.
Professor “Abu-Orabi” said that
this congress is considered a qualitative addition to the achievements of the
Association, with its policy that aims to open broad horizons towards
internationalization and globalization, and provide ways of communication with
the international universities and academic institutions. “Istanbul University
“and “Istanbul Medeniyet University” took the initiative to communicate with
the Association over a year ago, and the idea began after the completion of the
“Arab-Euro University Conference on Higher Education” and the “Arab-AASEAN
Global Higher Education Summit”, and the positive results of those conferences.
“Abu-Orabi” added that the
Turkish side has completed the necessary preparations to host the participants
in this congress, and the number of the chancellors of Arab universities who
confirmed their attendance exceeded (120) participants, in addition to the
participation of many heads and representatives of the international
organizations and authorities concerned with the academic affairs.
