The Ministry of Education recently sent a number of students and teachers to participate in the Innovation Ambassadors Program to various international destinations considered leaders in the innovation field. This was part of the “Our Ambassadors” initiative launched by the Ministry of Education, to instil a culture of innovation among the different aspects of Emirati schools, thus contributing to the achievement of a leading educational system in the country, and achieving its educational objectives through the establishment of tools and methods of modern learning that reflect and anticipate future directions in various fields and academic disciplines.
The Innovation Ambassadors Program comes in support of the State's approach and vision of creating national cadres possessing the desire of initiative and innovative ways of thinking, to preserve the accomplishments of the State and what has been achieved in most of the world's leading areas; through providing students with the tools of the future, and instilling innovation as their culture and lifestyle which will subsequently contribute to the sustainability of development and excellence in various fields.
The Ministry of Education aims, through this Program, to introduce live models to students and infuse the notion of innovation and creativity in their minds as an urgent need and not a luxury. This will be accomplished by engaging them in direct workshops and field visits that reveal the trends of developed countries, and their mechanisms and plans for the future, by adopting innovative tools to achieve its aspirations in various fields.
The tour for students and teachers participating in the Innovation Ambassadors Program within Our Ambassadors Initiative included visits to reputable institutions, colleges and universities in the United States of America, Switzerland and The Netherlands. During these visits, they learned about the most important information, sciences and innovations that these institutions are studying and implementing, as a guarantee for them and their communities to remain within the global competitive circle, and continue to act as instrumental players in shaping the future.
During their trip to the city of Eindhoven in The Netherlands, students learned about modern concepts of entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation. They also attended specialized workshops in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, neuro linguistic programming, robotics and computer designs, for the purpose of raising a generation capable of innovating, crystallizing and implementing creative ideas, overcoming challenges and finding successful solutions for them, as well as to provide them with planning and management skills.
In Virginia, United States of America, our students learned how to develop creative thinking by using their minds and directing their thinking in a creative an innovative manner, which will help prepare them for scientific and practical life. This was done through training workshops and field visits undertaken by the students to scientific laboratories, expertise businesses and institutions, specialized in the field of innovation, where they learned about the best available innovative practises.
The students’ and teachers’ visit to Stanford University in USA and the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland within the Innovation Ambassadors Program, focused on learning about 3D printing techniques, which is considered a scientific field and is enjoying great global attention as it embodies a knowledge revolution affecting various types of human activity. They also learned about robot design, installing programs, the mechanisms of programming and utilizing them in the development of educational tools, and applications which serve the objectives of the Ministry of Education.
