In the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, the first edition of the “School Principals’ Symposium” was held in Dubai which constitutes a collaboration platform for leaders in the educational sector.
The Symposium, organized by the Moral Education Committee comprising of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, Ministry of Education, Abu Dhabi Education Council, the Knowledge & Human Development Authority in Dubai and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, hosted for the first time senior government officials within the educational sector and government and private school principals accumulating the experience of 1300 schools which form the total number of schools operating in UAE to discuss and set plans and provide recommendations on the application of the “moral education” curriculum throughout the Country’s schools.
His Highness began his tour in the “Al Shorfa” area where he observed the main pillars of the moral education program, thereafter he visited the innovation laboratory where he had the chance to see the practical application of the curriculum in numerous schools in UAE. His Highness also visited the “education platform” where he saw several innovative educational initiatives.
H.H Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan attended a session entitled “21st century skills for school leaders” which discussed the skills that school principals must develop in order to form a closer relationship with new generations, and how educators can enhance creativity, innovation, communication and critical thinking in students, and to continue their roles as motivating and leadership factors by encouraging effective participation between students, parents, teachers and the community in general.
His Highness strongly believes that the education sector, along with the cultural one, contribute to shaping the future, and with increasing expertise, the two sectors can determine strategic basis for the implementation of the moral education curriculum.
His Highness added: “Education begins with modern learning foundations and through a strategy that is determined by the ability of the moral education curriculum to be influential and effective in empowering the future and advancing development”.
In conclusion, His Highness said: “Today witnesses a decisive point towards application of the moral education curriculum….UAE places its full trust in education and shall accomplish the desired leap”.
His Highness had visited the “Khadija Girls Intermediate School” in Ajman, one of the schools applying the moral education curriculum on an experimental level, where he was welcomed by Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, and met with a number of principals and teachers who expressed their great honour for such a visit, stating that the UAE leadership launched initiatives to make the educational process in the country one of the best in the world, the most recent initiative being the “moral education curriculum” which will be applied in all government and private schools in UAE, and this confirms the UAE’s innovation headship for the development of all aspect within the educational process. This curriculum was prepared to cover various educational concepts and teachings that conform to our customs, traditions, heritage and original identity, in addition to the shared elements with other civilizations.
