The Ministry of Education (MoE) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS) to qualify national cadres that will be able to develop the work and keep pace with the accelerating developments in the financial and banking sector. According to the agreement, a group of outstanding citizen students will be granted scholarships in the most prestigious universities and higher institutes to study undergraduate and postgraduate programs in banking and finance majors. This step aims to support the banking and financial sector in the country by qualifying future leaders and developing their scientific, creative capacities. This will eventually support the national educational strategy, boost development, achieve sustainable development, and meet the demands of the labor market.
H.E. Dr. Mohammad Al-Mualla, Undersecretary for Higher Education Academic Affairs, and H.E. Jamal Ahmed Al-Jassmi, General Manager of EIBFS, have signed the agreement in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
H.E. Dr. Mohammad Al-Mualla said that based on the national strategy for higher education and within the axis of harmonizing the outputs of higher education with the requirements of the country and the labor market; the MoE was keen on enhancing its relationship with the various institutions of the country. He added that the MoE also aimed at laying the foundations for a more permanent, sustainable phase of cooperation to qualify young leaders, who would lead the development of the country and the labor market in the future. In this context, the MoE signed this agreement with EIBFS, one of the leading national institutions in the field of financial and banking sciences, he said. He added that the EIBFS was also a strategic partner to the financial and banking sector and involved in providing this vital sector with qualified, national competencies, to keep pace with the accelerating developments in it.
He said, "Cooperation with EIBFS will benefit scholarship students, as the institute will provide training opportunities for the students during their studies and provide training and professional programs for graduate students, in order to enhance their careers and help provide job opportunities for graduates in banks and the financial and economic sector in the country."
He said that the leadership's focus on students, qualifying them with the best sciences and experiences, and enrolling them in the best disciplines in the most prestigious international universities was an important pillar to continue the path of leadership in human development and preparing well-rounded, empowered, and pioneering generations in several fields, including the banking and financial industry. He noted that the agreement would strengthen the leadership's vision of achieving optimal investment in the capabilities of the country. He stressed that the agreement would also help qualify competitive competencies that contribute to the advancement, progress, and service of their country and be a real addition to national gains, in light of the vision of the next fifty years.
On the other hand, H.E. Jamal Ahmed Al-Jassmi, General Manager of EIBFS, said: "We, at EIBFS, work to achieve the goals of the vision UAE Centennial 2071, which aims to build a strong economy for future generations. Our primary role is to prepare national cadres and competencies qualified scientifically and practically to supplement work in the banking and financial sector. We also build "future leaders" in the financial and economic area by providing opportunities for postgraduate studies and specialized scientific qualifications." "This agreement comes as a qualitative step that translates the joint cooperation between the MoE and educational institutions in the country, which serves the country and its citizens," he added.
Noura Al-Blushi, Director of Program Management and Implementation Sector at the EIBFS, said that specialized scholarships were an important supporting factor in the national education process and that they accelerate development to meet market requirements and achieve sustainable development. She noted that the institute would work for the first time on granting scholarships to five undergraduate and five postgraduate students in the fields of financial technology and its branches in the most prestigious universities, in cooperation with the MoE. She added that the institute would communicate with banks and companies working in the financial sector and contact the candidate citizens, according to the MoE scholarship criteria. "The EIBFS will also provide professional training opportunities for scholarship students, in addition to job opportunities in the banking sector," she said.
