The Commission for Academic
Accreditation (CAA) at the Ministry of Education organized a seminar on smart
Learning in collaboration with the Emirates Academy for Identity and
Citizenship at the Dubai Police Officers Club in the presence of Professor Mohammad
Yousuf Bani Yas, Higher Education Advisor - Director of the Academic
Accreditation Commission at the Ministry of Education; Mansoor Al Awar
Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University and representatives of 80
universities from various institutions of higher education, government, police,
military and private and a number of representatives of foreign universities.
Presented by a group of academics, the
seminar aimed to highlight the importance of smart learning and its benefits
and focused on the advantages of smart learning and the importance of its
adoption and positive impact on the development of the education system at the
global level.
During his welcoming speech, Colonel
Mohammed Saeed Al Ameri, Director of the Emirates Academy for Identity and
Citizenship stressed the importance of strengthening of cooperation between all
educational institutions and those concerned with education and harnessing all
human and material resources to improve the quality of higher education.
Prof. Mohammed Yusuf Bani Yas gave a
presentation on the various aspects of smart learning and its applications in
different disciplines, stressing the keenness of the Ministry of Education to
use the best modern educational practices in smart and e-learning in line with
the directions of the UAE.
Prof. Mohammed praised the Ministry
of Education’s efforts and steps to improve the quality of higher education in
the UAE, pointing to the need to learn from the experiences of international
accreditation institutions in smart learning and to make the best use of them,
as emulated by the licensing standards and new accreditation in the ministry.
Professor Christa Glazowski of
Indiana University in the US reviewed the experience of the University in using
e-learning to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the classrooms,
pointing to the effectiveness of smart learning in transferring education and
broadening its prospects to meet future directions.
Prof. Mustafa Hassan and Dr. Raed
Odeh from Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University presented the most prominent
features of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University’s experience in developing
faculty members to cope with e-learning in addition to the advanced
technological infrastructure provided by the university. They also presented
studies and data verifying the effectiveness of smart learning in advancing
education at universities.
