Professor Sultan
Abu-Orabi Aladwan, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities
and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Fund for Scientific
Research, expressed his hope that the scientific workshop, which will be held
and hosted by the Islamic Development Bank at the end of this year, and to
which donors and representatives of the member states will be invited to discuss
the support of the Arab Fund for Scientific Research at the Association of Arab
Universities, will result in the provision of the necessary financial funding
for the Fund, as well as identifying research priorities and the economic
feasibility of the establishment of research projects, and studying the
technical details of the research projects to be set up.
Professor Abu- Orabi
emphasized the strong will of the members of the Association to activate the
role of this Fund, and to be implemented after the scientific studies that have
been conducted, in the belief that the scientific progress in all its forms is
the application of the results of scientific research conducted in the developed
countries, and it contributes to the progress and development of nations, and
improves its social position.
Dr. Mustafa Al-Bashir,
Director of the Fund, highlighted the importance of preparing for this
scientific workshop, during which the research topics will be presented, and
the feasibility expected from the establishment of research projects will be
identified, as the Fund provides all the necessary flexibility for those
wishing to participate in the research projects, in terms of splitting the
times and forms of financial support , the freedom to choose the project, and
the study of all the technical details necessary for the project to be sent the
participants in the form of recommendations, in order for the participant,
whether they be an ordinary person or an institution, to be able to make the
right decision, based on the studied scientific and technical foundations.
Dr. Ahmad Mohamed
Ali, a member of the Board of Directors of Islamic Development Bank, welcomed the
idea of the Fund, and expressed his willingness to urge the representatives
of the member states in the Bank to provide the necessary support for the Fund,
referring to the many projects that the Bank has implemented in a number of
Arab and Islamic countries, with the aim of upgrading the social and
humanitarian situation in the member Islamic countries.
It is noteworthy
that the decision to establish the Fund came from the recommendation of the heads
of Arab universities participating in the General Conference of the Association
of Arab Universities in the city of Fes in 2012, and the formation of the
Council, and the establishment of the Board of Directors of the Fund from the Arab
competencies of the dignitaries and their Excellencies from several Arab
countries, have been approved.
