The Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils and in cooperation with the Industrial Research and Consultancy Centre in Khartoum will hold a workshop from October 13th to 15th, 2015, on modern technologies and their role in the development of small and medium industries, with the aim of highlighting the role of small and medium industries in the development of urban and rural areas, promoting economic and social security, and encouraging creativity and innovation on the one hand, and highlighting the role of financial institutions, scientific research centers, and institutions of higher education in the development of small and medium industries on the other hand. The workshop also aims to study the legislation and policies for small and medium industries, and emphasize the importance of technical and technological education institutions and colleges of society development as a nucleus in small and medium enterprises. There will be a view of some Arab and international experiences, and some of the success stories in the field of support and development of small and medium industries will be presented. Several axes will be discussed in the workshop: the role of incubators and scientific parks, private sector, and research centers in supporting small and medium industries, entrepreneurship as an input to develop them, legislation and policies that support them, problems and solutions facing funding them whether microfinance or banking portfolios, and the challenges facing them. Two axes were devoted to view models and experiments.
