Awarded the University of Wollongong in Dubai, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, an honorary doctorate for his continued efforts in supporting the educational movement in the country and attracting many prestigious universities, in addition to its pivotal role in the three national universities, the University of UAE, Zayed, and technical colleges, the during the annual graduation ceremony, which was organized by the university on the graduation of 284 students, in the presence of code Adviser Michel University in Dubai, Professor Rob Whelan, president of the university and members of faculty and administrative bodies, and a group of parents.
For his part explained the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research during his speech, a number of issues that constitute communities of global concern, including economic growth, sustainability, health, environmental sustainability, global peace and education, which is an essential building block in the formation of communities, he said, pointing to a UNESCO report issued this year, which indicated that 776 million adults are two-thirds of women suffer from a lack of basic skills education, and 75 million children around the world do not receive schooling. He pointed out that a large number of developing countries suffer from low levels of educational systems at all stages of study, which underlines the tragic situation of education in the world in general, pointing out that in the event of an inability to keep pace with developments of these countries will not be able to be part of the system knowledge economy.
His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, in order to overcome these challenges requires Governments to develop a long-term educational goals and to ensure the participation of its members in the global economy and development strategy to achieve its goals, calling on the graduates to take advantage of the opportunities they receive in universities in order to bring about positive change in communities, and be ambitious without limitations or reservations and creative without restrictions.
