With the participation of federal authorities, "Higher Education" discusses teacher licensing and permit system

The "Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research” participated in the discussion of the general perception of teacher licensing and permit system and the mechanism of development of standards for licensing and training vocational, with the guidance of the "Higher Steering Committee"of the preparation and implementation of the policy and licensing procedures of teachers in the State during a meeting chaired by the “National Qualifications Authority", with the participation of representatives from the “Ministry of  Education", "Abu Dhabi Education Council", the "Knowledge and Human Development Authority" and the " Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute".

The Committee at the current mechanism used in licensing of teachers and the difficulties facing it and ways to overcome them according to a methodology taking into consideration the “Ministerial Council Decision on Services” that generally specified the general policy for licensing of teachers, types of licenses such as temporary licenses or permanent licenses and potential paths for licensing, which should cover the workers in the education profession with less than(10) years of experience or more of citizens and expatriates as well as people attracted to a career in education from inside the country and from abroad.

The Committee also discussed the criteria followed at the "Abu Dhabi Education Council" and "Knowledge and Human Development Authority" in the licensing and certification of teachers, it also discussed the initial draft presented by the “Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute” for teachers, which emphasized the principle of sustainability in licensing which makes learning a profession capable of interacting with the global changes and to encourage the process of Emiratisation.

Members of the Committee stressed the importance of taking into account the fact that the a teacher is not a result of qualifications obtained through academic or University study only, but are the leadership personality that must be cultivated and the values of innovation and growth in the student to continue the development process and establish social and economic development.
