By :Abu Dhabi "WAM" The ministry of higher education and scientific research (MOHSER) ) issued a warning to Emirati students against enrolling in higher education institutions that offer distance-learning studies from accredited universities in the U.A.E. and abroad.
These institutions claim that the degrees they grant are attested by the Ministry of foreign affairs in the corresponding countries and the Arab embassy located there. Also, the Ministry warns against dealing with educational service agencies with no license from MOHESR. Moreover, the Ministry confirms that in case of not being committed to the Ministerial Act no. 93 (2010), which states all the requirements for the Emirati students to join one of the higher institutions abroad, the Ministry is exempted from the responsibility of equalizing the degree he/she holds.
Through a circular received by “WAM , the Ministry stated that all informal academic programs are not recognized by its side. In accordance to the minister’s decision, full regular attendance in the campus in the country of studying and obtaining the approval of the ministry before joining any educational institutions are the main requirements for having the degree equalized. What follows is the text of the circular "MOHESR noted that many advertisements have emerged recently in different means of media; particularly the read ones, announcing about educational institutions in the UAE and abroad. Those institutions follow informal academic systems like distance learning and grant degrees from accredited universities.
These advertisements also emphasize that these granted degrees are attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the corresponding country and the Arab embassy there. Thus, the Ministry issued a warning to all Emirati students from enrolling in such institutions as it has its own requirements for higher education systems. One of these requirements is the regular full attendance in the country of studying. Moreover, students should get the approval of the Ministry before enrolling in any educational institutions in commitment to the Ministerial Act no. 93 (2010).
The decision states that all Emirati students, who plan to pursue their studies abroad in one of the institutions of higher education, have to get the previous approval for their study from “ MOHESR “. In addition to that, a student’s study should be under the supervision of the UAE cultural attaches and consulates in the country of studying or under the supervision of the UAE embassies in case of not having cultural attaches in that country. Moreover, meeting the requirements of the certificate equivalency system is one of the most important conditions for those institutions of higher education that a student wants to join in order to complete his higher education.
Finally, the student's commitment to follow certificate equivalency system and all the regulations issued by “MOHESR” and are available on the website: www.mohesr.gov .ae It is noteworthy to mention that the Ministry is exempted from the responsibility of equalizing a student’s certificate in case of not being committed to this act. The Ministry issued a warning from dealing with educational service agencies which are not licensed by “MOHESR”. |
