The "Water, Energy and Environment Center" of the "University of Jordan", during (4-6) April 2016, will host "The 5th conference on Renewables and Energy Efficiency for Desert Regions" (GCREEDER), which was held for four times during the years (2006-2013), all of which attracted professionals and academics concerned, in order to contribute to the creation of a common understanding of the importance of renewable energy, raise its efficiency, and achieve the concept of energy security, in order to overcome the challenges facing investment in renewable energy projects in the desert areas. The themes of the Conference include; energy resources, renewable energy applications and technologies, energy efficiency and green buildings, renewable energy systems, efficient energy management, the economics of energy and financing policies, regulations and policies of energy, environmental aspects of energy systems, carbon footprint, climate change, energy storage systems, energy conversion systems, fuel cells, energy, water and food nexus, nano energy, and energy harvesting. The recommendations of the Conference held in 2013 focused on the need for the renewable energy projects and investment in solar cells, wind power and the exploitation of oil shale and uranium to be the focus of attention of researchers. The Conference also recommended the need to harmonize scientific research and industrial sector, activate cooperation, coordinate to build strategic partnerships, develop technical support for research projects, and attract support for outstanding projects.
