Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) will be launched on May 7th 2015, at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) and will run till the13th of May 2015.
The Fair seeks annually to improve the publishing industry in the Mena region through offering a literary platform for book lovers, booksellers, publishers, distributors and industry professionals; it will host over 500,000 titles and 1,181 exhibitors from over 63 countries. As a key highlight of its silver jubilee edition, ADIBF 2015 will also feature a series of talks, exhibitions and poetry readings that celebrate the UAE’s founding father, Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as Focus Personality of the Year.
In addition to a series of seminars, panel discussions and interactive sessions that highlight the reality of the publishing industry in the Arab world and the region.The event will include dedicated areas delivering cultural and professional programs including an innovative “Spotlight on Rights” initiative that serves as a forum for business and contract negotiations. While the “eZone and Service Providers Area” showcase new technology and digital content, the “Illustrators’ Corner” will provide exhibitors with a venue to introduce their work to professionals from the book industry. Humaid Matar Al Daheri, Acting Group CEO at “Adnec” said that the Center has a huge investment for the development of its facilities, to ensure the continued success of these major annual events, as well as supporting the growth of the Emirate as a destination for business tourism, and that the Adnec team is honored to contribute to the success of this important cultural event through providing all kinds of support that will ensure uninterrupted visitor flow across the exhibition venues. We are all geared up to welcome writers, intellectuals, thought leaders and publishers who will be sharing their thoughts and perspectives on contemporary cultural and literary issues.
He also noted that the Fair is especially important for Adnec, where educational institutions, universities, institutes and schools, at all levels are keen to visit the show and learn what's new in the world of culture and scientific and literary books, in its various branches.
