In response to the directives of his Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, in announcing the year 2015 as the Year of Innovation in the State, and the need to intensify efforts and strengthen coordination, and to start creating a stimulating environment for innovation that will take the UAE to the first rankes internationally in this field, the "Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University" is hosting on Tuesday 24th of November 2015, under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the second Forum on Higher Education Policies, to be held by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the Coordinating Council for Higher Education, under the title "The national agenda for scientific research and innovation". The Forum includes four workshops that discuss the policies that encourage building the culture of scientific research and innovation in higher education and scientific research institutions, and building and strengthening the capacities of the teaching bodies in the field of scientific research and innovation, and building an effective partnership between higher education institutions and the economic sectors to support social and economic development in the State, and scientific research and innovation challenges and constraints they face, and the mechanisms available to address them. Then each workshop will discuss the recommendations they reached by the attendees, this year's Forum is hosting Professor "Joseph Shields" from “Ohio University" as the main speaker, where he will review the best practices in research and innovation, a large number of University Presidents, and members of the teaching staff in public and private universities, in addition to a number of businessmen and managers in the private sector will be participating, the Forum will also be attended by high-level attendees from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and higher education institutions in the State.
