The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization "UNESCO" is organizing, in collaboration with six co-conveners, the World Education Forum 2015, from May 19th to 22nd, 2015, in Incheon, Republic of Korea, under the slogan “Equitable and inclusive quality education and lifelong learning for all by 2030.Transforming lives through education”.
As 2015 is the target date for achieving the goals of Education for All and the Millennium Development Goals, the Forum seeks to assess the achievements and shortcomings in the implementation of the Dakar Framework for Action and the goals related to education among the Millennium Development Goals, during the period from 2000 to 2015, in addition to its quest towards agreement on a common position on the purpose and objectives of education in the development plan for post- 2015, in order for the United Nations Member States to adopt this position at the Summit in September 2015, as well as agreement on a comprehensive framework to direct and support the implementation of the future education agenda. About 1,500 people are expected to participate in the Forum, including world leaders in the field of education, ministers, policy makers, representatives of civil society, United Nations agencies, multilateral and regional organizations, representatives of the teaching profession, youth, the private sector, and media and experts.
