A delegation of graduate students at Harvard Kennedy School of Government, which consists of 30 students, concluded their one-week visit to the UAE, which comes as part of  the "Emirates Leadership Initiative", during which the delegation participated with the UAE scholarship students in the World Future Energy Summit held in Abu Dhabi, and met with a number of senior officials and experts in the field of energy and environment in the ministries and organizations concerned with clean and sustainable energy.

The delegation and the UAE Scholarship students went on academic tours that focused on studying energy and environmental issues, and identifying the efforts and leading role of the UAE in the field of energy and environment. The following six UAE students participated in the program: Tariq Hilal, Khaled Al Ketbi, Anoud Al Lozi, Amna Taher, Al Anoud Ben Tilley, and Mohammed Idris.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development, met the university student delegation before leaving the country, and stressed that those students who represent their countries will form an important part of their countries’ leadership in the future. His Excellency said that the success of this visit is evidence of the success of the Emirates Leadership Initiative launched by his Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, who believes in the importance of education and the urgent need to develop and build educated leaders in our countries.

His Excellency Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States, affirmed the UAE Government's commitment to investing in education and training emerging leaders, and that the main objective of the program is the development of leadership skills through seminars sponsored by the Harvard Kennedy School for Emirati officials in the public sector.

"Emirates Leadership Initiative" was launched during 2014, and lasts for five years, in order to strengthen relations between the countries and peoples of the Middle East, through a series of research and training new leaders and executives through the scholarship programs. The delegation’s first visit is in implementation of the Initiative which provides scholarships to ten students each year, who are selected from the UAE and other countries of the Middle East, and offers new opportunities to learn from the best faculty members in the world at Harvard Kennedy School. It also opens the door for students to see the efforts of UAE and the region in encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship.
