The UAE is
participating in the worldwide celebrations of the United Nations public
service day which falls on June 23rd,
the purpose of this day is to celebrate the value of providing public services
to the community and the benefits of such services, and to educate citizens and
young people in particular the contributions of the public service in the
development process through the public sector.

and more than one area, which confirms that the government practices in the UAE
enables them to qualify, participate and win international awards, as the government has successful and
creative experiences to become a model and an example according to the UAE Vision
The UAE represented
by the Department of Dubai Smart Government won the United Nations Public
Service Award 2013 for its technical initiatives such as the e-identity initiative
launched by the Department in cooperation with the Emirates Identity Authority.
The Ministry of the
Interior, represented by the Dubai police GHQ, came first in the United Nations
public service awards for 2012 in the category -promote the Elimination of
gender disparity in the public service-, which is considered a recognition from the highest international
organizations of the leading role of the UAE in support of women's issues,
appreciating what women have to offer, which promotes the State's position in
the world and makes it a role model.
received the 2006 Award for raising the level of its services as a result of
the use of information and communication technologies that contributed to the
strengthening of the process of service delivery which is measured by a wider
access to services and enhanced efficiency and timeliness of services following
the approach of services that is more considerate of the citizens and
increasing the effectiveness and acceptance of services and its quality.
The award is
considered one of the international United Nations Public Service Awards which includes
three areas: transparency, accountability and responsiveness to public service needs,
awarded in recognition of contributions to institutional strengthening of the
role of the public service was its attributes of professionalism and
visibility, a committee of experts of the United Nations nominates candidates
for the award and advise the Secretary-General of the United Nations with
regard to the winners, the award is a very effective tool in drawing attention
to the best practices and innovation in public service all over the world.
