UN Secretary General "Ban Ki-moon” invited in his message to
the world that celebrates today (24th of November) the “United Nations
Day", the members of the international organization to step up to the
ideals of this organization, and to work together for peace and development and
the promotion of human rights. And facing development challenges that are
embodied in translating the concept of sustainability into practice.
The Secretary General said that despite progress made by the
organization in that area, but he is looking to maintain these achievements and
drafting a development plan that is equally inspiring beyond 2015 and to reach
an agreement on climate change.
In the midst of those invitations, Vice President, Prime Minister
and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum”,
inaugurated Phase One of the (12) billion AED “Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Solar Park” with production capacity of over one thousand Megawatts.
The Secretary-General said in his message to mark this day that the
Organization has succeeded in achieving the “Millennium Development Goals” by
reducing poverty by half. He said "We have to show what we can do working
together. We can achieve more, in a world of increasing interdependence; we
need to be more united". Sheikha “Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi”, Minister
of Development and International Cooperation, said at the (68th) session of the
UN general assembly in “New York” recently, that the UAE’s commitment to help
developing countries achieve the “Millennium Development Goals” through the
“Development Programs of UAE”, to
achieve the ranking of (16) among the most countries in the world in the
proportion of the foreign assistance it provides through (2012), according to
the “Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development".
