Ministerial Cabinet approves 2015 budget and allocates 3.4 billion Dirhams for higher education

The UAE budget for 2015 has allocated 9.4 billion Dirhams to programs of public, higher, and university education, which is 19.14% of the total budget, in order to achieve the vision of the wise leadership to provide distinguished educational programs, raise the level of the educational process and employees, provide a decent life for them, and raise their standard of living financially and professionally. The budget allocated for higher and university education is estimated at 3.4 billion Dirhams, which is 6.92% of the total budget, and the total costs of public education programs amounted to 6 billion dirhams, that is 12.22% of the total budget.

4.2 billion Dirhams were allocated for the provision of equal educational services,1.5 billion dirhams for UAE University’s programs and objectives, of which 502 million Dirhams were approved for programs for leading graduates and pioneers in their specialties, 99 million Dirhams were approved for the academic excellence programs as per the standards of academic accreditation, and one billion Dirhams  was allocated for the objectives and programs of the Higher Colleges of Technology, of which 547 million Dirhams  were approved for programs to prepare generations of qualified graduates to meet the needs of the labor market.

In addition, 87 million Dirhams were allocated for programs to provide a learning environment of the highest levels of quality, and 435 million Dirhams were allocated to the goals and programs of Zayed University, of which 292 million Dirhams were approved for high quality university study programs, and 63 million Dirhams for upgrading the University’s research.

As for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, 478 million Dirhams were allocated to its programs and objectives, of which 390 million Dirhams were approved for the program to promote opportunities for citizens to join the best accredited universities abroad.

The UAE Cabinet has approved a 49.1 billion UAE budget for 2015 on Sunday, 12/10/2014, and it also agreed at its meeting on a number of  recommendations made by the National Council regerding "the policy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the field of scientific research”.
