The Federation of the Universities of the
Islamic World of
the Islamic for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), in
cooperation with the Virtual University of Tunis, will hold a workshop on
updating university curricula according to the global changes, during the
period from 25th to 27th of November, 2014, in the
Tunisian capital, Tunis, with the participation of university professors specializing
in the preparation of higher education curricula from Morocco, Libya, Algeria,
Jordan, Egypt, and Tunisia.
The workshop aims to
develop higher education and improve its outcomes by updating the curricula and
promoting the scientific research, through discussing the challenges faced by
the member universities of the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic
World, in the areas of updating the university curricula, proposing
alternatives and methods of solutions, the criteria and indicators of quality
that should be relied upon in the development of university curricula, the role
of human and financial resources to the development of these curricula, the
role of cooperation between member universities of the Federation in the
modernization of their curricula, and evaluation of international experience in
the modernization of university curricula.
ISESCO, during the
same period from 25th to November 27th, 2014, is also
holding a regional consultation workshop on the national systems of innovation
and intellectual property in African countries, in cooperation with the
Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South
(COMSATS), and the Inter Islamic Network on Information Technology (INIT), at the
headquarters of ISESCO in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
The workshop aims to
develop participants' skills in order to contribute to the development of policies
of innovation systems in their countries to enhance their technological
capacity and respond to the competitive challenges in light of globalization
and the accelerated technological changes.
The participants will
learn about the national systems of innovation and intellectual property
patterns and the principles of policy development in this area, and they will
discuss ways to develop a framework of appropriate policies for systems of
innovation and intellectual property, in order to develop national
technological capabilities, and provide a platform for research students,
planners, and those responsible to formulate and implement these policies.
The workshop will be
attended by officials, experts and researchers from Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo,
Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire, Gabon, Niger, Senegal, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana and
Pakistan.
