On instructions from
his Excellency Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher
Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry is actively participating in
the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival, which was opened on November 20th
and continues until December 12th, 2014, it is organized and sponsored by his Highness
Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, and with the
support of his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Supreme
Commander of the Armed Forces, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and supervised by
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of
Presidential Affairs.
The Ministry
launched in collaboration with the Festival two research contests in two fields;
the first is the best research project on the achievements made in the era of
the late founder Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in the various fields
associated with the Festival, titled “Sheikh Zayed Our Idol”, while the second
is best research project on the cultural
heritage of the UAE under the title "Our Emirati Heritage", targeting
students in schools, undergraduate and graduate studies in the State.
The first contest is
designed to encourage students to search in the outstanding biography of Sheikh
Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and participate in research projects related to the
great achievements made in his era, and interests of the Festival with authentic Arabian horses, Camel
racing, poetry, literature and culture, in addition to his pioneering role
in the development of education, economic
and social development, and the development of agriculture, especially in palm
cultivation, and the provision of health services and social care, and to promote and strengthen the Union through consolidation of the
concepts of patriotism and Emirati traditions and heritage in the Emiratis social,
cultural and economic life. The second contest aims to promote research and preservation of the
cultural heritage of the UAE in areas covered by the Festival activities in the
marine, mountainous, the wilderness and agricultural environments.
The research
contests are divided into a category for school students, one for university students
and one for graduate studies students, prizes for each category of the two
contests have been allocated.
Submitting
applications for the two research contests starts on November 23rd,
2014, and ends on December 30th, 2014 through the Ministry's
website.
