His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubark Al Nahyan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research signed yesterday the names of 11532 accepted students in the United Arab Emirates University, Zayed University and the Higher Colleges of Technologies, who have finished GSC and met the admission criteria of the three institutions.
This group of local students is considered the largest group in the history of higher education in the Emirates; as the UAEU attracted 3727 students, Zayed University attracted 2272 students, and 5533 students at the Colleges of Higher Education.
His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubark Al Nahyan signed the lists of accepted students in government institutions in the presence of Dr. Saeed Hamad Al Hassani, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdallah Al Khanbshi the president of the UAE University, Dr. Soliman Al Jassim, the president of Zayed Universit, Dr. Tayeb Kamaly, President of the Higher Colleges of Technology, Yomna Bdowah, the Director of Strategic Planning in the Ministry, and a number of the academic and administrative leaderships of higher education institutions in the country.
Sheikh Nahyan Bin praised the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the Emirates, the Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses the members of the Supreme Council, the rulers of the Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who adhere to provide financial and human resources, and all success requisites that enable educational institutions to fulfill their national role and achieve their mission of building the knowledge society and enhancing the advancement of the country's cultural growth in all fields.
His Highness noted the keenness of Their Highnesses to create a unique learning environment for all citizens, to enable them to engage in modern and contemporary educational systems that meet the empowerment strategy of the government, particularly in what concerns the axis of human development which makes the forefront of this strategy and gets unlimited support of the wise leadership. He also praised the support given by His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, of the institutions of higher education in the country, and his desire for these institutions to be up to date with their distinguished counterparts worldwide, stressing that Sheikh Mansour has regionally provided a unique model in funding these institutions through linking their budgets to the numbers of admitted students, which allowed accepting this large number of successful students who meet the admission criteria for the academic year 2011-2012. His Highness Sheikh Nahyan also paid tribute to Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the Chairman of the Family Development Foundation, the President of the General Women's Union, "the Mother of the Emirates" who sought for decades to help the Emirati woman to occupy her rightful position in national development, and enhanced the ability and efficiency of the national woman in all fields particularly in education, which expanded to include broad segments of female citizens in the whole country, in order to participate after their graduation in progressing human development and advancing the country's cultural growth to global prospects. |
