Under the patronage
of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime
Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the third edition of the Government Summit kicks in
Dubai on Monday 9th of February 2015, under the theme Shaping Future
Governments.
The Summit kicks off
with the participation of 4,000 participants from 93 countries, from officials,
experts, scholars and top speakers, His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown
Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces
delivered the keynote speech, to exchange best practices in the development and
delivery of government services, and as an international event aimed at
exploring the future of governments, the Summit will confirm that
the UAE has become under the leadership of his Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin
Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, an international destinations in government
development.
Mohammed Abdullah Al
Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Organizing Committee
of the Summit, said that the Summit proved its status as a global platform for
the exchange of best practices in the development and delivery of government
services and as an international event aimed at
exploring the future of governments, to confirm that the UAE has become under
the leadership of his Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of
the State, an international destinations in the field of government
development.
The Summit agenda
consists of 50 meetings and more than 100 speakers to discuss the future of
innovation in governments, education and health services and smart cities, the
Summit will be held in partnership with the United Nations, the World Bank, the
World Economic Forum in Davos and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and
Development.
Speakers from
outside the UAE are more than 100 led by Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General,
Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, Queen
Rania wife of King Abdulla Bin Al Hussien of Jordan, Deputy Prime Minister of
South Korea, President and CEO of Consumer Electronics at Samsung Electronics,
Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple
Computer, and other speakers from international
universities and specialized international organizations.
The function of the
Summit includes two global awards, a Museum for the next generation of future governments,
the largest platform for innovation in the public sector, and speakers in the
various sectors of education, health, technology, smart cities and government
services and innovation.
UAE University is organizing
on the sidelines of the third day of the Summit a meeting of the heads of the
Gulf and Arab universities to discuss innovation in higher education, the most
important international practices in this area, in addition to topics
concerning research policy and recent trends in patents and mechanisms to
stimulate innovation among university and college students, universities from
around the Gulf, in addition to Egypt, Sudan, Morocco and Iraq will participate
in this meeting.
The Summit is to
bring happiness to the UAE society by working on the development of education
and justice for all and the creation of jobs for young people, in addition to
overall development of the infrastructure.
