Despite the availability of employment opportunities in the aviation sector in the UAE it is suffering from weak demand by Emirati nationals, according to news reports, the aviation sector provides (250,000) jobs in various fields, while estimates that the percentage of naturalization in some areas do not exceed (5%).

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research explored the views of the followers of its Facebook page to discuss the reasons for the reluctance of young people to work in this vital sector, the major reasons were addressed  by the participants in the survey.

Hussein Abdulrahman said that the reasons for the reluctance of young people to work in the aviation industry is due to the lack of experience and knowledge in this area, in addition to the low salaries of employees, and attracting foreigners to work with encouraging incentives, adding that control of foreign companies in the sector limit opportunities to attract young Emiratis.

And Dr. Mohammad Yahia said that the health considerations is the leading causes of aversion, where working conditions in the sector cause health damage and side effects.

While Mirna Al Nuaimi attributed the reasons to not identifying clear criteria and qualifications, saying that officials in the aviation sector should support qualified citizens and enhance their self-confidence in conjunction with job placement.

Fadil Lootah supported the opinions of the majority of the survey participants that low salaries and fear of flying limit demand for labor in the aviation sector.
