The Open Education College at the
University of Science and Technology in Sana'a, under the patronage of the
Prime Minister Mohammed
Salim Basindawa, holds a scientific conference under the title "The Reality
of Open Education in the Arab world, and the Prospects for its Development",
between 16-18 September 2013.
The Conference will discuss several
topics including technical and legislative challenges facing open education and
e-learning in the Arab world, especially technical, social, legislative and
intellectual property rights challenges. The Conference focuses on the characteristics and the
scientific and ethical professional standards, and allocates the minimum
standards required to make teaching and learning in this method of education
according to international standards.
It also discusses linking techniques and
methods used in open education and e-learning, either in design, content ,methods
or properties of the teacher and the student's to the educational standards, in
the context of integration with the technical aspects. It will also review the
e-learning management systems and its advantages, potential, constraints of its
application in the Arab world, and how it facilitates the creation of an
effective learning educational system, employing social media in education.
The Conference will present the
experiences of companies, industrial and commercial institutions in the field
of e-learning technologies, and provide a future vision for technologies and
programs used in education and access to them, such as education based on smart
phones, and mobile panels.
It will also review the experiences of
open education and e-learning in the Arab world for governmental and private educational
institutions, to identify the reasons for success and failure in practice and
performance.
