The “International
Exhibition and Conference on Higher Education”, which was held under the
auspices of the custodian of the two Holy Mosques, was concluded in “Riyadh”,
with the participation of (436) universities and international institutions
from (37) countries, along with (51) Saudi universities and institutions.
The Conference
recommended the need to link the educational and training curricula with the labor
market needs, develop some non-traditional areas in line with the changes of
times, and to encourage the private sector to invest in scientific and applied
colleges, and the art institutes for females. Her Highness Princess “Haila Bint
Abdul Rahman”, Director of Ladies Branch in “Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry”, clarified that
the number of female graduates increased by (33%), and the number of unemployed
Saudi females reached more than (361) thousand unemployed females, stressing
the importance of the role of the private sector in supporting the sustainable
development for women and empowering them.
The conference
discussed the issue of forging of scientific certificates and its seriousness,
and Dr. Abdulla Al Qahtani, Director General of the “General Department of
University Certificates” of the Saudi “Ministry of Higher Education”, ensured
that the Ministry, in cooperation with a number of official authorities, took the
necessary actions, and enacted regulations to curb this phenomenon, and
emphasized the importance of the religious and social awareness in eradicating
it.
The conference witnessed
the signing of agreements in the field of scientific cooperation between the
Saudi universities and a number of the major international universities, in an
effort to keep pace with their international counterparts, gain the required
experience, strengthen cooperation to benefit from the experiences in the
scientific research, and provide services for the Saudi students who wish to
pursue their education in the international universities.
