The Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Mohamed Khider in Algeria,
in collaboration with the Laboratory of Social Change and Public Relations in
Algeria, will organize the Second International Conference on New Media and
Issues of Contemporary Society, under the theme "Challenges and
Opportunities", on 25th- 26thof November, 2014.
The conference aims
to identify the nature and concept of the new media, disclose its legal and
regulatory framework, and discuss the methodological problems in its research
and studies through addressing its most important theoretical entrances.
The conference also
aims to uncover the relationship between the new media and community issues
(social, political, economic, and cognitive), between the theoretical aura and
reality, in addition to access to the effects of psychological, health, and
social tools on the various segments of society, drawing attention to the
multiple risks resulting from its misuse, revealing the expected roles and future
functions of the new media, coming up with practical strategies for the
rationalization of the communities use of applications of this type of media,
and exploring the prospects for its development in light of the changes and
global crises.
The organizers of
the conference set a number of themes that are expected to achieve its
objectives; most notably, the problems of new media, its origins, its concept,
the methodology of its studies and analysis, the legal dimensions, and the
problems arising from practicing it, as part of the title: the new media
between the conceptual and legal framework. In other two axes, its relationship
with the virtual communities, social change, institutions of socialization, and
institutions of political socialization, political marketing, and the formation
of public opinion, democratic transformations, and its role in the fight
against violence or advocacy of violence will be discussed. The conference
devotes a special axis to discuss the role of new media in the activation of
the activities of the economic, commercial, service, and marketing institutions,
and an axis to discuss the knowledge and information security issues, and
applications used in education, and its role in the development of scientific
research.
The conference will be
attended by a number of Arab university professors, and from the UAE, Professor
Salah Filali from the University of Sharjah will attend the conference.
The deadline of receiving
the research abstracts is 1/10/2014, and they will be either accepted or
rejected on 10/20/2014.
