
The recently held meeting
of the Consortium of the “Euro -Mediterranean Universities Network” (TETHYS) , was
concluded in the “University of Palermo” in “Italy”, with the participation of the
chancellors and representatives of universities from “Egypt”, “Libya”,
“Tunisia”, “Algeria”, “Palestine”, “Morocco”, “Lebanon”, “France”, “Italy” and
“Spain”.
Dr. “Mohammad Rafat
Mahmoud”, Assistant Secretary General of the “Association of Arab Universities”,
said that the meeting focused in its main session on discussing the
international certificates, mobility, and the international exchange of faculty
members, in addition to the projects of the “European Union”
higher education projects: “Tempus”, “Erasmus”, and “Governance of Universities”.
The meeting also
emphasized the role of the “Association of Arab Universities” in the development of the higher
education in the Arab world, and the efforts it exerts in coordination and
cooperation with the Arab and European universities and academic institutions,
in order to develop higher education and open direct channels of communication
between the Arab Universities and the international universities and academic
institutions, so as to exchange expertise and get acquainted with modern
teaching methods, and enhance Arab-International student exchange. It also
showcased the reality of joint projects which the Association is implementing
in cooperation and coordination with the “European Union”, especially the
projects “Tempus” and “Erasmus.
At the conclusion of
the meeting, it was announced that the Association of Arab universities will
host the meeting of the Assembly next year.
