Professor “Abdulla
Y. Al-Hawaj”, the President of “The Association of Arab Private Institutions
for Higher Education(AAPIHE)”, and the
President of “Ahlia University” in “Bahrain”, called the private higher education institutions in
the gulf and the Arab world to respond to the various scientific and
technological developments in order to gain access to the global competition
with the top American and European universities, during the meeting of the “General
Assembly of the AAPIHE” in the “Emirate of Ajman”, under the patronage of His Highness
Sheikh “Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi”, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of “Ajman”,
and with the participation of the top leaders in higher education in the Arab world.
“Al-Hawaj” clarified that the meeting of the Association was concluded with
a lot of important recommendations, such as:
more coordination and cooperation between the private higher education institutions
in the Arab world, organization of forums and conferences to promote the
education levels and outcomes, activation of exchange programs of scientific
and academic competencies among the various private universities in the Arab
world, and attracting new universities to join the Association.
“Al-Hawaj” praised the efforts of the gulf leaderships for the
localization of “Higher Education and Scientific Research”, and the high
interest in the quality of education in many of Gulf and Arab countries. He
also referred to the private universities in “Bahrain” and “UAE” and many other
Arab countries, which have become key partners in the development plans, and
strategic resources to provide a lot of professional competencies that meet the
requirements of the labor market.
“Al-Hawaj” added that the Association prioritized the development and
advancement of private higher institutions through developing the educational
process and human resources, and emphasizing the role of the private sector in
the field of higher education in terms of providing financial and moral support
necessary for the advancement of higher education, as well as supporting
scientific research in all areas.
“The Association of Arab Private Institutions for Higher Education” was
established in (1996) as a non-governmental and non-profit authority which aims
to develop higher education as per the best quality and quantity standards,
help the private universities and community colleges keep pace with the latest
academic and technological developments and their requirements in the Arab and
the world, contribute to the preparation of researches, studies, and translations to serve local and private
sectors in the Arab world, achieve integrity between higher education
institutions and business institutions in the Arab world, and to maintain
communication with international academic institutions.
