The Arabic Language from the Heart of "Zayed" to the Actions of "Emirates Rulers"

"We believe that the only regionalism a citizen in our country feels is allegiance to the Arab nation" – the late - Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan.

UAE rulers have spared no effort to protect and develop the Arabic language, morally and financially to maintain their love for the language of the Qur’an and preserving the Arab identity and Arabism for generations to come as the late - Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahayan had instilled.

"The Arabic language is the language of the Quran, to which God made specific to us, apart from other nations. Conservation of the Arabic language is preservation our Islamic teachings and principles bearing the message of love, peace and security, as it also is a bridge connecting us to our roots, our history and our vision for the future."

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum articulated the above, at the 2nd International Arabic Language Conference in May 2013, which he sponsored and was jointly organized by the International Council of the Arabic Language, UNESCO, the Arab Bureau of Education for Gulf States, the Arab League University and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO). At the Conference 372 studies were discussed by nearly 1,000 individuals coming from approximately 70 different countries, considering various issues concerning the language.

The website "Our Arabic Sun”, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahayan, is the embodiment of the awareness of those pursuing knowledge therefore attempting to provide Arabic Language courses as sources of knowledge that draw students from the Arab world as a whole. The site provides undergraduate courses taught at top international universities at no cost.

The UAE also aims to utilize the Arabic Language as a conduit connecting civilizations and establishing bonds. Zayed Arabic Language Center was established in Beijing by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahayan in 1990. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahayan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, opened a new building in March 2012. At that time, he wished "that the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan Arabic Language Center for Arabic language and Islamic studies in Beijing, would become a solid bridge linking the Chinese and Arabic cultures, deepening dialogue concepts, empathies and noble humanitarian values".

The Emirati and Arab attention given to the Arabic Language prompted the UNESCO to adopt December 18 as Arabic Language Day.
