His Highness Sheikh Dr. “Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi”, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, said in his speech recently during the opening of the University’s branch in Dhaid city that the government of Sharjah was striving to provide amenities of a decent life, including education, to residents of the central region, as well as the Emirat's keenness on the safety of the residents of the area of the troubles and dangers of the road, which called for directives to establish University branch in Dhaid, adding he looked forward to the development of the University in the coming years. His Highness announced that Al Dhaid city in the central region of the emirate of Sharjah will see the development of the world's largest zoo as part of the rapid urban, educational and economic expansions in the region, and unveiled plans for establishing a desert institute and a seed bank in partnership with major international universities and institutes. Inviting students to strive to gain knowledge and learn from science in its various fields and disciplines, and to benefit from the academic and educational services offered by the University. His Highness inspected during a tour around the University, classrooms and utilities provided by University to students, and was assured of the readiness of the University which consists of three parts; the male students section, the female students section, each with 18 classrooms, 4 laboratories, and a prayer room, the third section is for administration, in addition to two lecture halls, a meeting room and a library, the University is connected through a smart Hall with "videoconference" facility to the main University directly, which is of the latest technology in smart education, also the building design was geared for the needs of the disabled. Some 140 male and female students are attending Dhaid campus in colleges of Law, Arts, Business Administration, Communications, Sharia and Islamic Studies, and the intensive English program.
