Zarqa University in
Jordan will hold the third international conference for the Student Affairs
Deanship under the title “Social Responsibility in the Eyes of Arab
Universities”, on (27-28/11/2014).
Zarqa University took
the initiative to make the title of the conference as “Social Responsibility in
the Eyes of Arab Universities” in order to restore cohesion between the
university and the community, and bridge the gap between them, so that the university
finds out the requirements and needs of the community, and build its plans,
programs, and activities accordingly.
The conference aims
to raise the awareness of Arab Universities about the importance of
communities, with its different spectra, pay attention to their developmental
needs, achieve their current and future requirements and aspirations, and upgrade
them to the highest levels in the context of a better life.
The conference seeks
to raise awareness about social responsibility of universities, and clarify the
role of universities in transferring knowledge and utilizing it in community
service, in addition to stimulating student bodies to provide initiatives that
serve the local community, and to promote partnerships between universities and
community institutions, and look at examples of successful Arab and
international experiences in the area of social responsibility to benefit
from them and develop them.
The themes of the
conference focused on key issues, including the social responsibility of
universities between theory and practice, the role of the deans of student
affairs in the promotion of social responsibility, the importance of the
partnership between the universities and local community institutions in
promoting social responsibility, the scientific, practical and realistic, local
and global experiments and patterns about social responsibility, and the social
responsibility of universities between reality and ambition.
Participation in the
conference is divided into two kinds: participation with paperwork or research,
and participation by attendance only. As for the participant with paperwork,
the participation should be related to one of the conference axes, and the
participant should send a summary of his research, no more than a page.
Researches should be sent electronically to the following e-mail address
(src.st @ zu.edu.jo), no later than 14/9/2014, and the participating researcher
is informed about the acceptance of his research or paper electronically no
later than Sunday, 10/2/2014.
It is noteworthy
that the conference takes place in the context of the University’s celebrations
of the 20th anniversary of its establishment.
