The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is organizing an Orientation day for its new students and those dispatched on scholarship to the USA & Australia. This is in line with the Ministry’s endeavor to set and achieve its strategic objectives and implement an integrated strategy for effective communication with all its customers.The Ministry has organized two orientation days for its new students and scholarship students in the USA & Australia on Tuesday and Wednesday, 19 & 20 August 2008, in order to clarify student requirements as to the issuance of the scholarship decision, travel arrangements, arrival in the scholarship country and enrollment in the scholarship institution.
In his speech, Dr. Said Hamad Al-Hassani, General Manager, confirmed that the UAE general strategy has placed education as one of its top priorities. As such, the Ministry’s strategy accentuates an undertaking to secure the best outputs by dispatching students to study in the most prestigious higher education institutions of the world.
To this end, the Ministry selects elite UAE students with high academic levels to help achieve this objective. The General Manager alerted the students that each one of them is considered an ambassador for his country abroad, and, accordingly, should represent it well and in an honorable way whether academically or through interaction with all those concerned in the country of study. The representatives of the UAE concerned embassies and cultural attaches’ offices in both countries explained the laws and regulations that the students must respect.
They also explained the educational systems that the students will follow, the most important characteristics and culture of the receiving communities, the manner in which students will adapt to the nature of life and standards of living and the required procedures to obtain and renew visas. During the meeting, the new students were informed of past experiences of graduated distinguished scholarship students so they could benefit from their successful study experiences.
